My name is Linda, I am from Colinet, St. Mary’s Bay. I’m a very active senior, a proud mother of two and grandmother of three wonderful grandkids. For the past 15 years I have worked for Woof Designs machine knitting, and at age 70 I still enjoy what I do!
I first learned I had a hearing loss about 16 years ago when my coworkers were making comments about my hearing in a friendly but funny way to them. I found it embarrassing, and I felt humiliated, it wasn’t funny to me at all. I had a long road ahead of me of coming to terms with my hearing loss. I didn’t want to have trouble hearing. I didn’t want to go through what my mother did most of her adult life as she was very hard of hearing. However, at this point I made the decision to ignore the issue.
Eventually, growing tired of all the comments and feeling frustrated with myself, I finally got my hearing tested in 1999. Sure enough, it was confirmed, I had very poor hearing. Wow, there it was, someone said it to me out loud and confirmed it … I needed hearing aids! I knew I did, but having a hearing health care professional say it was overwhelming. I could no longer ignore my problem so I thought … but it wasn’t until 2008 that I truly accepted my hearing loss and decided to get hearing aids.
It was a new experience, but I felt I still wasn’t hearing properly and this was frustrating me even more. I could hear what people were saying but I still couldn’t understand. Everyone seemed to be not “talking right”. I was wearing my hearing aids less and less, my family and friends started complaining once again.
I decided I needed new hearing aids that suited my lifestyle better and could meet my expectations of what I was wanting to achieve when wearing them. I made the phone call to Krista and Anne Marie at Quality Care Hearing … since then I’ve been smiling and everything has been positive!
I am truly amazed with my new hearing aids, they feel like a dream. Everything is so clear and natural, and I feel less stressed and more relaxed than I ever did. I have a phone and TV device that brings it all together for me. I love it! I can now enjoy things that stressed me before. I go to concerts, dances, and have friends to my home, I can hear everything! My friends are enjoying the new “hearing me” too!
The service and experience I received from Quality Care Hearing has been far more than I expected. I am beyond pleased! There is nothing more joyful than hearing the birds chirping outside my window!

Hi my name is Mary. I am a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother I’m still very active, hence my hearing is very important to me.
I first discovered I had a hearing loss about 7 years ago. After some routine testing I was told I had a hearing problem and I was not hearing the way I should be. However, even after I was told by a professional that I needed hearing aids, it still took me a full year to accept that I needed amplification.
I am an instructor for a basic tax course, and I noticed the only students I could hear were the ones in the front of the class. I would compensate by walking to the end of the class to ask the students if they had questions or comments. I found I always had the television loud and it was uncomfortable for other family members. They would always comment, “The people next door can hear the TV mom” My favorite words became, “Pardon me? Or “Could you repeat that please”. I found most situations frustrating and stressful, and I knew it didn’t have to be that way.
When I finally accepted I had a hearing problem and decided to get hearing aids, life seemed more relaxed. I’ve been wearing hearing aids now about 5 years, and was recently fit with new ones from Quality Care Hearing. Wow, and I thought I could hear better before! I now feel much more confident, and I can hear with ease, it’s no longer a struggle. My family no longer has to be constantly repeating and I no longer have the TV up loud which makes everyone happier. Now when I teach, I can stay at the front of the classroom. I smile a lot.
The staff at Quality Care Hearing was very friendly, professional and experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend Quality Care Hearing to family, friends or anyone I meet. They offer personalized genuine care.

Hi my name is Patricia, I’ve had hearing loss for approximately 15 years. Even though I’ve been living with hearing loss along time, I only got fitted with hearing aids this year.
Having hearing loss is very emotional. My family and friends would constantly tell me I was talking too loud and always tell me to lower my voice. That became embarrassing a lot of the time. I was feeling frustrated. I felt I could hear, I just couldn’t understand, especially if people were talking behind me or if there was background noise. I don’t think normal hearing people can ever truly understand what it is like to have hearing loss if they haven’t experienced it. It’s very difficult.
I’m not sure why I put off hearing aids for so long. Years ago my doctors told me they wouldn’t be of any benefit or help to me at all. Which put negative thoughts in my head about them. If my doctor said they wouldn’t help, why entertain the idea? However, the time came and I knew I could no longer go on the way I had been. My family was on my back and I was tired of all the comments, “go get your hearing checked, or, you need hearing aids” Along with my doctor saying they wouldn’t help, I guess the perceived cost was a deterrent as well….but were they worth it…MOST DEFINITELY!
My experience at Quality Care Hearing was just awesome! Krista and Anne Marie were so excited for me to be taking this huge leap and for me to be bettering my lifestyle. The day I was fit with my new hearing aids was music to my ears! It felt like surround sound. I had no idea what I had been missing. I was shocked. It was a whole new world out there. I couldn’t believe I had been living the way I was for so long. I left their office that day with such a positive outlook.
I recommend everyone get their hearing checked, even if you think you have perfect hearing. You get everything else checked so why not your hearing? I would not hesitate to tell anyone about hearing aids and how they can change your life. They did mine! My husband used to complain that I had the TV too loud, now he has to turn it up! I feel 10 years younger now that I can hear everything! A special thank you to Quality Care Hearing.

Hi my name is Peter, and I love music!
I first noticed my hearing loss about 5 years ago. Being a musician, I gradually started to notice I wasn’t hearing instruments properly, the way I once did. I have tried several different styles, and brands of hearing aids but none were completely to my satisfaction.
I have known Krista and Anne Marie for many years and when they opened Quality Care Hearing I decided to visit them. I got fitted with new aids. I was truly amazed at the clarity they provided. No matter what situation I am in, I can now hear great. Sound is natural even in a crowd, a restaurant and most importantly when I sing. Music is a huge part of my life and I’m thrilled to have it sounding perfect again.
At this time I would like to thank Quality Care Hearing for fitting me with my new aids, for being so professional, friendly and the excellent service. If you need hearing aids I highly recommend you get them, don’t delay the process. The quality of my life has changed for the better.
-Peter

I’ve had hearing loss as long as I can remember. My mother noticed as a toddler I was not able to understand what she was saying or follow conversation, and I couldn’t hear loud sounds. As a result, by grade one, I was wearing my first hearing aids. School was challenging, I learned to lip read very well. Knowing I had such a bad hearing loss was scary, especially as a child. Adapting to very busy environments where there were a lot of people talking caused me anxiety. As I grew and got older, every time I got new hearing aids it was both exciting and overwhelming because the way I was used to hearing changed completely. I had to adjust to new sounds and old sounds all over again. My hearing continued to decline up until my late teens and then started to stabilize.
As a teen, wearing hearing aids helped with my self-confidence and overall learning ability in school. However, if I was in background noise or there were a lot of people talking I still had trouble trying to follow the conversation. As I got older, job interviews became challenging. As I started dating, relationships required a lot of attention, patience and understanding because things were so easy to misinterpret. I have certainly learned to have a sense of humor and laugh at myself. For me, I have always accepted my hearing loss as part of who I was. Even though I had a severe hearing loss the positive was I could wear hearing aids to help me, this far outweighed any negative.
Recently I found myself in a situation where both my hearing aids were not working. I went without hearing properly for almost a year. I decided I had to do something as I could not function very well. I went to Quality Care Hearing and they introduced me to the latest in hearing aid technology, hearing aids that allowed me to hear like never before! I was so happy! My hearing aids are Bluetooth! Who would have thought this was possible!
With my new hearing aids I have more confidence than I ever imagined. The first day I tried them on, Krista was amazed at how big my smile was. My life has totally changed for the better! I love them! The new technology and comfort is superior to all the aids I’ve had in the past. It’s been amazing to me to hear with such clarity. Now when I listen to music it’s like hearing my favorite songs for the first time. I’m hearing instruments and voices in songs I didn’t know existed before. The best part is being able to participate in conversation without having to struggle. Listening and hearing has now become effortless.
My experience at QUALITY CARE HEARING was a very happy one, very positive and the service was beyond exceptional. Krista and Anne Marie were very compassionate, understanding and took time to explain everything to me. Krista even let my fiancée experience what it was like to hear through my ears. It was a real eye opener to him! If you are a person needing hearing aids, I definitely recommend getting them. Life is too short not to hear the wonderful sounds that surround us.

Hi my name is Deanne Lee, I’m 43 years old. I am originally from St. Mary’s Bay and now reside in Paradise.
My hearing loss story is very emotional for me. I first noticed I had trouble hearing as a very young girl, around the age of 14. I began having difficulty hearing in the classroom. I summed it up to my friends and teachers just talking low. I lived and functioned like that until I was 29 years old. At that time, I was giving a day long training session, and I realized I could not understand what was going on in the group. That’s when I truly acknowledged I had a hearing problem.
I wasn’t sure of all the signs and symptoms of hearing loss or what I should be looking for. I know now looking back that I had all the classic signs; I had ringing in my ears, if I wasn’t looking at someone’s mouth when they spoke I had no idea what they were saying. I was constantly asking people to repeat themselves over and over again. I knew I could hear, I just couldn’t understand especially if there was any background noise. I had such a kaleidoscope of emotions that I was trying to deal with. Fear of what was happening to me and how to deal with it, frustration, embarrassment, sadness. I felt so isolated from people, however the main emotion I think I felt was inadequacy…to myself and my family and friends.
I started wearing hearing aids at the age of 30. I know I should have been wearing amplification years before. I guess cost was a major deterrent at first, especially being so young. However, I think the biggest preventative factor was denial of my hearing loss. I had to make myself come to terms with it and work on acceptance, which wasn’t easy.
I’ve been wearing hearing aids now for many years, however, there were still times (a lot of times) that I felt I was missing what was going on around me and conversation. I was functional, that was about all. My hearing aids seemed to be no longer meeting my lifestyle or hearing needs. When I got fitted with my new hearing aids, I cried a little…. over something as small (which was huge to me) as being able to hear the conversation going on in the next room! I can now hear my daughter even if she is in another room, I can hear the rain, fire crackling, cars passing when the road is wet. Shortly after I got fit with my new aids, I went to a concert. This normally would be a nightmare of a situation for me. I was more than surprised! I heard music like I’ve never experienced before. All while being able to hear the conversation around me! I was shocked to say the least! I was hearing ALL NEW SOUNDS…. I wasn’t sure what they were at first, I often ask my husband questions that start with, “is it normal to hear……” One day I asked if it was normal to hear the wipers on my windshield! Another time I asked, “Do debit machines always beep” I didn’t realize how much I was missing…..not any more!
Krista and Anne Marie greet you with a warm smile and compassionate personalities. They go above and beyond for their clients. The level of experience is beyond exceptional! They get to know their clients and develop lasting relationships. I didn’t feel like a hearing aid number. Acceptance, compassion, understanding, friendly and winning services sums up my experience with Quality Care Hearing. I highly recommend this clinic, they have changed my life.
